Japan’s role crucial in development (Gorkhapatra)

KATHMANDU, Nov.22
Japan has been playing an active role in Nepal’s development over the last fifty years, a Japanese Embassy official said at a press meet organised Saturday to inform about the Japanese Festival slated for November 29 in the valley.
Tadashi Fujiware, minister at the Embassy in Nepal, said Japan assisted Nepal through a wide range of socio-economic development projects in infrastructure, electricity generation, water supply, agriculture development, health, natural disaster mitigation, soil conservation, and education.
He said that both Japan and Nepal have been enjoying a very cordial and excellent relationship since the establishment of diplomatic relationship more than 50 years ago.
Vice president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Krishna Prasad Tamrakar, said that the youth would get opportunities learn about cultures, garments, and handicraft and produce an export them as per the demand.
He said that FNCCI and other organisations that are involved in promoting Japan- Nepal business and economic relationship are participating in the event enthusiastically.
The events is organised aiming to promote Japan and its traditional as well as contemporary culture in Nepal, said Junko Naito, chairman of committee at JCCN. She added that Japan is a country full of traditional culture vis-à-vis a country of modern technology with the status of one of the most developed nation.
Culture, tradition and modern technology are beautifully blended in everyday life and in the corporate life as well, she said.
“They hoped that this type of occasion will help promote cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries, which ultimately helps in the expansion of ever-growing friendly and cooperative relationships between Japan and Nepal in the 21st century,” she said.
Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Nepal is the main organizer, with joint cooperation from the Embassy of Japan, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) and various organizations including Japan-Nepal Society in Tokyo and Japanese Association in Nepal, according to organisers.
During the festival, visitors to the venue at Summit Hotel will have the opportunity to enjoy various traditional Japanese cultures including Japanese Food, Origami, Tea Ceremony, Demonstration and workshop on Ikebana (Flower Arrangement), Kimono practice and more, organisers informed.
