Japanese food aid to Nepal (Kantipur Daily)

Kathmandu, Feb 09 – Japan on Tuesday agreed to extend a grant assistance of Rs. 566.44 million to Nepal for Food Aid.
Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Tatsuo Mizuno and Finance Secretary Rameshwore Prasad Khanal signed and exchanged the notes on behalf of the two countries.According to Japanese Embassy statement, the assistance aims at enabling the Nepal to procure rice and supply it to the food deficit districts. “The Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) is to distribute it through its national distribution network,” it reads.
Japan, being a development partner to Nepal, has been providing food aid for several years.
Ambassador Mizuno expressed his wish that the extended food assistance will help the Nepal government in addressing the urgent need in food deficit districts and in easing the difficulties felt by local people in their daily life.
He expressed his belief that the Food Aid shows the Japanese people’s wishes for further improvement of well-being of the Nepali people.
