Junior Nepali envoys promote peace in Japan (Kantipur Daily)

KATHMANDU, JUL 31 – The delegation of seven Nepali junior ambassadors who took part in the 23rd Asian Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC) returned home on Saturday.
In the gathering held on July 15-27 in Japan, Divas Bashyal, Samir Dware Thapa, Subhasandesh Gautam, Aishwarya Pulami, Yojana Dulal, Suwana Adhikari from Palpa, Syangja, Rukum, Makwanpur, Morang and Kaski respectively had represented Nepal.
Upon their return, Bashyal said the experience they had in the convention was memorable and their stay with people of different countries proved productive. “We learned how to live in a group. I made many foreign friends and got a chance to learn a lot about Japanese culture and their lifestyle during my five-day homestay with a Japanese family,” he said. The delegation selected by the Ministry of Education (MoE) from all over the nation went under the leadership of Bridge Club Nepal (BCN), a branch agency of APCC established in all 45 countries throughout Asian-pacific region.
The seven children delegates were accompanied by Noor Devi Mainali, a MoE representative and Nafisha Rijal and Manjula Pandey from BCN.
BCN Secretary Ashish Joshi, himself a junior ambassador in APCC of 2002, informed that the APCC organises the convention yearly in Fukuoka, Japan. “The convention aims at promoting peace and co-existence throughout the world through the children of 10-15 age group,” Joshi said. Over 400 children from 45 countries took part in the convention.
